New Orleans Building Arts Institute

The Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans has a prominent arts culture and during the research and analysis phase of the project, I perceived that Burgundy Street and Dauphine Street were the more prominent streets near the site in terms of visual and physical access. The program of the institute is organized so that the first floor is accessible to the general community and becomes more student-oriented higher in the building. The classrooms and workshops are elevated along the Press Street side of the building in order to emphasize the importance of the fabrication and learning spaces.
